Rottnest Quokka Brooch

This native timber brooch features the Setonix brachyurus Quokka. The Quokka is one of Western Australia's most widely loved marsupial. The friendly Quokka can easily be seen hopping around Rottnest Island. Visit Rottnest Island in spring and you'll see some super cute baby Quokkas. Quokkas are still found on the mainland in isolated but very vulnerable pockets of forest in the South-West.

Crafted from Allocasuarina fraseriana, commonly known as Western Sheoak found throughout Perth and the South-West Region of WA often in Jarrah Forest. Shoeaks can grow up to 15m high, have needle like leaves and have either male or female flowers. The wood grain has a distinct lace pattern.
